News - The latest about Diana’s engagements and recordings

Diana Damrau sings the title role in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, beginning later this month. This is truly a signature role for Ms. Damrau, whose performances as Lucia have been heralded as displays of “splendid vocalism” and “exultant.”

This spectacular new production, designed by Barbara Hanicka and directed by Barbara Wysocka, features an incredible cast including Levente Molnár as Enrico and Pavol Breslik as Edgardo. Kirill Petrenko leads the venerated Bayerisches Staatsorchester and Chor der Bayerischen Staatsoper.

The winter performances on January 26 & 29 and February 1, 5, 8 & 11 are now sold out. Opening night will receive a live radio broadcast on BR Klassik, and a free livestream will be available on February 8, 2015 via Staatsoper.de. For a chance to see Diana as Lucia in the theater, tickets are still available for the summer performances, taking place July 22 & 25. A commercial recording of Ms. Damrau’s ‘Lucia’ is also now available on the Warner Classics – Erato Label.
