News - The latest about Diana’s engagements and recordings

Diana Damrau returns to London’s Royal Opera House this spring, to star in a new production of Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor. Lucia is a signature role for Ms. Damrau, whose previous portrayals have been acclaimed by audiences and critics alike:

“Diana Damrau is undoubtedly “THE” Lucia of today. Her supreme virtuosity – which at no point expires in a mere display of vocal goods – every sung passage, note, trill, the messa di voce, grows and ascends to the expressive chiaroscuro of a soul torn by neurosis and continuously oscilates between joy and melancholy both uncontrollable, and reflected magnificently with very refined gestures . . .” – La Recensione

This highly anticipated engagement features staging by Katie Mitchell and set designs by Vicki Mortimer (enjoy a brief preview and video trailer), with Daniel Oren leading from the pit. Diana is also joined by a spectacular international cast for this not-to-be-missed production, which includes Charles Castronovo as Edgardo and Ludovic Tézier as Enrico. Performances take place April 7, 11, 14, 16, 19, 22 & 25; please note ticket availability is extremely limited for all dates. The April 25 performance will also receive a live cinema broadcast. Visit the following link for showtimes and theater locations.
