News - The latest about Diana’s engagements and recordings

This holiday season, Diana Damrau returns to the Metropolitan Opera as the tragic heroine of La Traviata in Michael Mayer’s richly textured new production, featuring a dazzling 18th-century setting that changes with the seasons. Ms. Damrau last collaborated with Michael Mayer in his production of Rigoletto.

Juan Diego Flórez sings the role of Alfredo, Violetta’s hapless lover, and Quinn Kelsey is Alfredo’s father. Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts.

Her last appearance as Violetta at the Met, which was her role debut, was proclaimed “a daring victory” (The New York Times).

The performances take place from December 4 – 29.
