News - The latest about Diana’s engagements and recordings

On December 6, Diana Damrau makes her highly anticipated return to Carnegie Hall, in recital with pianist Craig Rutenberg. This performance, featured as part of the Great Singers series, highlights works by Schubert, Strauss, Dvořák, selections from Rosenthal’s Chansons du Monsieur Bleu, and Poulenc’s Fiançailles pour rire. Please note ticket availability is extremely limited for this special event.

Ms. Damrau sings the role of Leïla in a new production of Bizet’s Les Pêcheurs de Perles at The Metropolitan Opera beginning December 31, and continuing January 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 23, 27 & 30, 2016. This is a signature role for Diana, whose portrayal has been characterized as “radiant” (Bachtrack) and the “passionate, unflinching moments of Act 2 and 3 are her forte, where she is absolutely convincing . . . in a demonstration of vocal acumen which matches her impressive physical dexterity and abandonment.” (The Opera Critic)

She is joined by a spectacular international cast for this production, including Matthew Polenzani as Nadir, Mariusz Kwiecien as Zurga, and her husband bass-baritone Nicolas Testé sings Nourabad. Maestro Gianandrea Noseda leads the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and Chorus for this Penny Woolcock directed staging. This will be the first time in Met history that ‘The Pearl Fishers’ graces the stage, and it will also receive a Live in HD broadcast into theaters worldwide, on January 16.
