Ms. Damrau will perform at Le Concert de Paris on July 14, in a televised concert celebrating Bastille Day. Along with l’Orchestre national de France and the Chœur et de la Maîtrise de Radio France, Ms. Damrau will sing “Je veux vivre,” from Gounod’s Romeo et Juliette, and the Strauss lied “Morgen.” Russian conductor Valery Gargiev leads Ms. Damrau and other international opera stars, including Nadine Sierra, Bryan Hymel, Ludovic Tézier, and Anita Rachvelishvili for this performance. A grand celebration of classical music, the concert is held en plein air on the Champ de Mars, with the Eiffel Tower serving as a backdrop. It will be broadcast live on French television station France2, and will be followed by a fireworks display.
