On July 13, Ms. Damrau sings a concert at Munich’s Klassik am Odeonsplatz, with violinist Radoslaw Szulc and conductor Cristian Măcelaru. Her part of the program features Manon’s aria “Suis-je gentille ainsi?… Je marche sur tous les chemins” and “Ah! Je ris de me voir si belle en ce miroir!” from Gounod’s Faust. This concert is scheduled for LIVE broadcast via BR-Klassik.
Afterwards, she continues her VERDIssimo tour with Nicolas Testé. Their last two performances are on July 18 in Ljubljana and on July 22 in Regensburg. “She was able to thrill with her firm high coloratura notes as well as move through intense expressiveness”, ConcertoNet raved about their Istanbul concert.
She then returns to Munich, where she’ll star in two sold-out performances of Verdi’s La Traviata on July 25 and 28. Violetta has become one of her signature roles. Opera News described her rendition as “remarkably detailed” and “beautifully sung”.
For a sold-out performance, on August 3, Diana Damrau joins Jonas Kaufmann at the Salzburg Festival to reprise their successful rendition of Wolf’s Italienisches Liederbuch.
Her last performance of the summer, on August 29 at the BBC Proms, features the world premiere of Aurora, a concerto for coloratura soprano and orchestra composed by Iain Bell especially for her. She also sings a set of Lieder by Richard Strauss.
