News - The latest about Diana’s engagements and recordings

“What I always do in Lieder recitals when I put the programs together is plan a journey to take the audience on,” says Diana Damrau. After her acclaimed evening in February 2018, when she joined Jonas Kaufmann and pianist Helmut Deutsch to interpret Hugo Wolff’s “Italian Songbook,” the international opera diva returns to Essen to indulge her love of intimate piano song with a new selection. Mini-dramas are to be expected, which the soprano will shape into musical events with her rich vocal color palette and nuanced text interpretation. Helmut Deutsch, who has been accompanying Diana Damrau for 15 years, will also be present this time as a masterful, sophisticated accompanist.

The program includes works by Clara Schumann, Enrique Granados, Fernando Obradors, Joaquín Turina, Richard Strauss and Robert Schumann. After the live broadcast on May 14, the concert will be available until June 11, 2021.
